Blacksburg, Virginia, October 18, 2009 – Want to experience the great craft beers at the Blacksburg Brew Do festival, but not crazy about the idea of driving? Let Blacksburg Transit (BT) be your ride. All day on October 24, BT will offer fare free service on the Main Street route. Better yet, park in the Kent Square garage on the corner of Washington Street and Draper Road and take the bus right to the First & Main shopping center.

RIDING IS SIMPLE:

From Roanoke Take the Smartway Bus: Get off the bus in downtown Blacksburg in front of Cabo Fish Taco. Walk two short blocks up South Main Street to the Blacksburg Transit (BT) stop in front of the Municipal Building (300 S. Main Street.) Take the BT bus for free to the festival site. BT will pick up every 30 minutes at approximately :15 and :45 after the hour. When boarding, tell the operator your destination is the First & Main shopping center.

From Kent Square to First & Main: Park in the garage and then catch the bus outside the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main Street. The stop is located directly in front of the building facing Main Street. BT will pick up every 30 minutes at approximately: 15 and: 45 after the hour. When boarding, tell the operator your destination is the First & Main shopping center.

From First & Main back to Kent Square: Catch the bus on Main Street at any stop across from the First & Main shopping center heading downtown. Arrive at the stop 30 minutes after the hour or at the top of the hour and the bus will be there shortly. When boarding, tell the operator your destination is the Kent Square parking garage.

Prefer to drive to the festival? No problem. There will be plenty of onsite parking, as well as overflow across the street at the Virginia Tech Surplus building in Blacksburg Square. At the end of the day if you’ve had a little too much to drink, contact one of these local taxi services - Hooptie Ride (540-449-3748) or Blacksburg Taxi (540-552-6671).

“We’re so excited to offer Blacksburg’s first ever craft beer festival. We hope people come out and have a great time, but also act safely and responsibly,” said Diane Akers, President of the Blacksburg Partnership. “We’re thrilled to have Blacksburg Transit team with us once again to provide free and reliable transportation for our guests.”

Blacksburg Brew Do is a rain or shine fall festival.
