BLACKSBURG BREW DO BRINGS EDUCATION AND EXPANDED OFFERINGS TO BEER LOVERS
BLACKSBURG BREW DO Presented by WSLS-10 Platinum Sponsor WROV Blacksburg, Virginia, September 29, 2009 – The Blacksburg Partnership, a non-profit economic development organization serving the Blacksburg area, will offer an educational experience at the new Blacksburg Brew Do, the area’s first craft beer festival. The festival will be held at the First and Main Shopping Center on Saturday, October 24, 2009, from noon to 6:00 pm, rain or shine. In addition to bringing the opportunity to sample beers from 13 regional breweries and food from area restaurants, the Blacksburg Brew Do will offer an educational experience in the Bull & Bones Brew Tent. One half of the tent will be used to operate a homebrewing system. Mike Anderson, a local homebrewer will set-up his equipment at the start of the festival. Every hour he will perform another task in the process until at the end of the day, the beer begins the fermenting process. Mike will be at the tent all afternoon to answer questions about his equipment and the process. On the other side of the tent, a series of informational sessions will take place throughout the afternoon. Two sessions titled “What am I drinking” will describe the attributes associated with different beer styles such as lagers, pilsners, stouts, IPAs and more. There will also be a session on cooking with beer which will include recipes and tips to get the most flavor when using beer as ingredient. The closing Brew Tent activity will be the final judging of the Blacksburg Brew Do Homebrew Competition and the award of “Best in Show.” In association with Blacksburg Brew Do, Bull & Bones is introducing a series of Brewmaster Dinners. The dinners will include a tour of the brewing operation and a seven-course meal where each course is paired with an exclusive Bull & Bones brew. The dinners will take place on October 6, October 13 and October 20, the three Tuesdays preceding the Brew Do. “We hope the Brewmaster Dinners will generate excitement about the festival while offering an entirely new experience in dining and beer enjoyment,” said Bull & Bones Co-owner Mark Shrader.
