TRANSPORTATION AND PARKING OPTIONS FOR FORK AND CORK FESTIVAL

Blacksburg, Virginia, April 24, 2009 – Thinking of going to the Fork and Cork festival, but not crazy about the idea of driving? Let Blacksburg Transit (BT) be your ride. All day on May 2, BT will offer fare free service on the Main Street route. Better yet, park in the Kent Square garage and take the bus right to the First and Main shopping center. At the end of the day, show your ticket stub to the garage attendant and parking will cost you only $1.

RIDING IS SIMPLE:

From Kent Square to First and Main: Catch the bus outside the Municipal Building at 300 S. Main Street. The stop is located directly in front of the building facing Main. BT will pick up every 30 minutes at approximately :15 and :45 after the hour. When boarding, tell the operator your destination is the First and Main shopping center.

From First and Main back to Kent Square: Catch the bus on Main Street at any stop across from First and Main heading downtown. Arrive at the stop 30 minutes after the hour or at the top of the hour and the bus will be there shortly. When boarding, tell the operator your destination is the Kent Square parking garage.

Prefer to drive to the festival? No problem. There will be plenty of onsite parking, as well as overflow across the street at the Virginia Tech Surplus building in Blacksburg Square. At the end of the day, if you’ve had a little too much wine, Hooptie Ride will give you a ride home for a fee.

“We’re really looking forward to having a great time with the community and want to offer a fun and safe experience,” said Diane Akers, President of the Blacksburg Partnership. “We’re thrilled that Blacksburg Transit and Hooptie Ride are teaming with us to make that happen, and hope everyone comes out for a great day of wine, music, and fun.
